Executive Officers

The Board of Executive Officers is responsible for managing Raízen’s businesses, and implementing policies and general guidelines set by the Board of Directors.

Ricardo Dell Aquila Mussa
Chief Executive Officer

Ricardo Dell Aquila Mussa. He holds a degree in Production Engineering from the Polytechnic School of the University of São Paulo. Mr. Mussa became executive director of the Raízen joint venture on April 1, 2020, previously he was the Executive Vice President, responsible by the group’s Logistics, Trading and Distribution and also was the CEO of Cosan Lubrificantes and later CEO of Moove Lubrificantes with operations in six countries including Europe and Latin America. He joined Cosan in 2007 and was one of the founders and CEO of Radar for five years, a company dedicated to investment on agricultural land with high recovery potential. During this period, he was also a member of the Board of Westchester in the United States, a TIAA CREF (American Pension Fund) company responsible for investments in the United States, Europe and Australia. Previously he performed several functions in multinationals such as Unilever and Danone, mainly in the Supply Chain area. He was responsible for the logistics area of Danone in Brazil in 2007 and for the manufacturing area of Unilever’s main cosmetics factory in Latin America between 2006 and 2007. Still at Unilever, he served as global director of Purchases of oils and fats and was also responsible for purchasing agricultural commodities in more than 25 countries. With extensive international experience, he worked at Unilever USA in Connecticut in 2002.

Guilherme José de Vasconcelos Cerqueira
Chief Financial Officer and Officer for Investor Relations

Guilherme José de Vasconcelos Cerqueira. Mr. Cerqueira is the chief financial officer and officer for investor relations of Raízen. Since 1988, Mr. Cerqueira has held several positions within the Shell group, including management positions at Shell International Ltd., in London, United Kingdom, between 2004 and 2007. At Raízen, he held the position of controller from Raízen’s creation in April 2011 until April 2014, when he became chief financial officer responsible for finance, treasury, supply, procurement and investor relations. Mr. Cerqueira led the team responsible for the issuance of Raízen’s first asset-backed bond (Agriculture Receivable Security) at the end of October 2014 which opened the market for the whole industry: the transaction gathered interest from over 2,000 investors and raised R$675 million. He has a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro. He also holds an MBA from COPPEAD.

Francis Vernon Queen Neto
Executive Vice President for Ethanol, Sugar and Bioenergy

Francis Vernon Queen Neto. Mr. Neto holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from the Polytechnic School of the University of São Paulo. In 2008, Francis assumed the position of CIO of the Cosan Group, coming from Accenture do Brasil. In 2010 he was appointed Executive Director responsible for Cosan’s Shared Services Center. With the formation of the Raízen joint venture, he took over the management of Raízen’s Shared Services Center. In 2017, he became Vice President of Ethanol, Sugar and Bioenergy Operations. One year later, he assumed the Executive Vice Presidency of Sugar, Ethanol and Bioenergy of Raízen, coordinating more than 23 thousand employees in the 26 sugar cane producing units.

José Leonardo Martin de Pontes
Commercial Executive Vice President

José Leonardo Martin de Pontes. Mr. Pontes is the Executive Officer for fuels distribution at Raízen Combustíveis. Prior to holding this position, he was the executive Director for Logistics, responsible for all the fuels operations in Brazil and global ethanol and sugar operations. From 2011 to 2013 he had occupied the B2C and B2B commercial direction. Mr. Pontes has a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with an emphasis on Finance by Rio de Janeiro State University and post graduate degrees in Strategy, Negotiation and Leadership from the universities of Cranfield, Harvard and INSEAD, respectively. Mr. Pontes has over 17 years of experience in the fuels and energy markets. At the Shell group, which he joined in 1997, he worked for 13 years in Brazil and Europe in several positions, including positions relating to global fuels pricing strategy, commercial and business development and strategic planning. In 2009, he led the retail strategy and business development general management for Latin America.

Frederico Barbosa Saliba
Executive Director

Frederico Saliba, Vice President of Energy & Renewables, is an economist graduated from PUC-MG, with a specialization in Finance from the University of California – San Diego. He joined Shell in 1998, having worked in Gas Trading, Energy & Environmental Products in Brazil, the United States and Canada. He also worked in Upstream, BtB Downstream, Retail and the Lubricants segments. Among other activities, he led the creation and management of several businesses focusing the growth of power and renewable energy trading portfolios in North America. On his return to Brazil in 2017, he acted as President of Shell Energy Brasil until September 2020.

Antonio Ferreira Martins
Legal Vice President

Antonio Ferreira Martins. Mr. Martins has worked in several companies from the Shell group for more than 20 years (since 1989). He has previously held counsel positions in other companies and in private practice law firms.

Paula Carvalho Benevides*
Human and Organizational Development Vice President

Current Vice President of Human and Organizational Development at Raízen. She has an extensive experience in managing people, culture and organizational changes. Graduated in Psychology, with an MBA in People Management and Development from FGV and an MBA in Business Management from Unicamp. She has over 18 years of professional experience in multisegment companies, having also worked in organizational development consultancy for national and global companies. In the Cosan group, she served as Head of Human Resources at Rumo, Cosan Alimentos, Lubrificantes and Comgás. Currently, she also serves as the CEO of the Raízen Foundation and mentor to social impact organizations.

Fabio Mota*
Shared Services Vice President

Raízen’s Vice-President and also responsible for Innovation and Pulse, a space for hosting and accelerating startups. For 7 years he also acted as director of information technology at Raízen. Previously, he was a consultant at Accenture, leading projects in several sectors (consumer goods, retail, air, oil and gas, telecom and utilities). He has a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Production Engineering from FEI with specialization in Business Administration from FGV and academic extensions in Leadership and Innovation from ISE / IESE, INSEAD, UC Berkeley and Tel Aviv University. He also works as a postgraduate and MBA professor at IBE-FGV and Pecege/ Esalq-USP.

Board of Directors

The Supervisory Board has three representatives of each of Raízen’s shareholders. Among other functions, it is responsible for: (a) proposing the Company’s global strategies and strategic priorities to shareholders; b) establishing general guidelines for the Company‘s business; c) setting and changing key policies and the Manual of Authorities; d) approving pension plan structures and corporate reorganizations; e) appointing/removing members of the Board of Executive Officers; f) approving/amending the Annual Budget; g) approving material agreements and agreements with related parties; h) approving significant investments and financing actions.

Rubens Ometto Silveira Mello
Chairman

Rubens Ometto Silveira Mello. Mr. Mello is the chairman of our board of directors. He holds a degree in mechanical engineering from the Polytechnic School of the University of São Paulo (Escola Politécnica da Universidade de São Paulo) (1972). Mr. Mello has more than 30 years of experience in the management of large companies. He has also served as general director and chairman of the board of directors of Costa Pinto S.A. since 1980 and officer and chairman of the board of directors of Aguassanta Participações S.A., since 2001. Currently, Mr. Mello is the chairman of the boards of Cosan S.A., Comgás, Rumo, Cosan Logística S.A., Raízen, Radar and Moove. He is also one of the founders of UNICA, the Sugarcane Agroindustry Association of the state of São Paulo (UNICA—União da Agroindústria Canavieira do Estado de São Paulo). Prior to joining Cosan, Mr. Mello worked from 1971 to 1973 as an advisor to the board of executive officers of UNIBANCO União de Bancos Brasileiros S.A., and from 1973 to 1980 as chief financial officer of Indústrias Votorantim S.A.

Huibert Hans Vigeveno
Member

Huibert Hans Vigeveno. Mr. Vigeveno is a member of our board of directors. Mr. Vigeveno is a Dutch citizen, holding a master’s degree in Business Administration from Erasmus University in Rotterdam. Mr. Vigeveno started his career at Shell as a business analyst in 1995 as a business analyst and acquired extensive experience in sales, marketing and general management during allocations in the areas of Chemicals, Shell Capital, LPG and Lubricants in the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, United States of America, Mexico, Brazil and China. In 2009, Mr. Vigeveno was appointed as Vice President of Supply and Distribution, Europe & Africa and played a key role in the integration and creation of additional value throughout the Downstream chain. Mr. Vigeveno moved to Beijing in 2012, when he was appointed as Shell’s Executive Chairman in China, strengthening the company’s business in Upstream and Downstream within China and internationally with Chinese partners. Mr. Vigeveno returned to London in 2015 to lead the integration plan for the business combination with the BG Group. In 2016, Mr. Vigeveno was appointed Transition CEO of Grupo BG, Shell’s largest acquisition in more than a century.

Luis Henrique Cals de Beauclair Guimarães

Luis Henrique Clas de Beauclair Guimarães. Mr. Guimarães became chief executive officer of Cosan. He was chief executive of Raízen until March 31, 2020. Mr. Guimarães was also formerly the chief executive officer of Comgás, and after that the Fuels Operational Officer and responsible for the Raízen joint venture’s Downstream division, which covers the retail, commercial and aviation businesses. Mr. Guimarães joined Shell in 1987 and worked in several positions in the lubricants and retail businesses in Brazil and abroad (based in London). From 2007 until September 2010, he served as Shell’s Chief Marketing Officer for Lubricants in North America, based in Houston.

Istvan Kapitany

Istvan Kapitany. Mr. Kapitany is a member of our board of directors. He holds the position of Executive Vice-President of Global Retails of the Shell group since April 2014 and has over 30 years of experience in the downstream fuel business.

Douglas Moray Alexander
Member

Douglas Moray Alexander. Mr. Alexander is a member of our board of directors. He holds the position of Executive Vice President of Financial Operations at the Shell group since 2013. He has 29 years of experience with Shell in the Upstream and Downstream, including experience in Latin America.

Marcelo Eduardo Martins
Member

Marcelo Eduardo Martins. Mr. Martins is a member of our board of directors and was a member of Cosan S.A.’s board of directors from March 23, 2009 until December 12, 2017 and member of Cosan Logística’s board of directors from April 30, 2015 until April 5, 2018. Mr. Martins also holds the position of chief financial officer and investor relations officer of Cosan Limited, Cosan S.A. and Cosan Logística. In July 2007, Mr. Martins was appointed as an executive officer of Aguassanta Participações S.A. Prior to joining the Cosan Group, Mr. Martins was the Chief Financial and Business Development Officer of Votorantim Cimentos between July 2003 and July 2007 and, prior to that, head of Latin American Fixed Income at Salomon Smith Barney (Citigroup) in New York. He has significant experience in capital markets, having worked at Citibank (where he began his career as a trainee in 1989), Unibanco, UBS and FleetBoston. He has a degree in business administration from FGV.
